FOUR WIVES

Once upon a time there was a rich King who had Four wives.

He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her With rich robes and treated her to the finest of Delicacies. He gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was Always showing her off to neighboring kingdoms. However, he feared that one day she would leave Him for another.

He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confidant And was always kind, considerate and patient with Him. Whenever the King faced a problem, he could confide In her, and she would help him get through the Difficult times.

The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and Had made great contributions in maintaining his Wealth and kingdom. However, he did not love the
First wife. Although she loved him deeply, He hardly took notice of her!

One day, the King fell ill and he knew his time Was short. He thought of his luxurious life and Wondered, "I now have four wives with me, but When I die, I'll be all alone."

Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I have loved you the Most, endowed you with the finest clothing and Showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying,

Will you follow me and keep me company?"  "No way!", replied the 4th wife, and she walked away Without another word. Her answer cut like a Sharp knife right into his heart.

The sad King then asked the 3rd wife, "I have Loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, Will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!", replied the 3rd wife. "Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to remarry!"

His heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the 2nd wife, "I have always turned To you for help and you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me
company?"

"I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!", Replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only walk with you to your grave" Her answer struck him like a bolt of lightning, And the King was devastated.

Then a voice called out: "I'll go with you. I'll Follow you no matter where you go."

The King looked up, and there was his first wife. She was very skinny as she suffered from malnutrition And neglect. Greatly grieved, the King said, "I should have taken Much better care of you when I had the chance!"

In truth, we all have the 4 wives in our lives:

Our 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time And effort we lavish in making it look good, It will leave us when we die.

Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and Wealth. When we die, it will all go to others.

Our 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter How much they have been there for us, the furthest They can stay by us is up to the grave.

And our 1st wife is our Soul. Often neglected in Pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the world. However, our Soul is the only thing that will follow
Us wherever we go.

Cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now, for it Is the only part of us that will follow us to the Throne of God and continue with us throughout Eternity.

Thought for the day:

Remember, when the world pushes you to your knees, You're in the perfect position to pray.

Glass of Milk

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house.  However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.

Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?"

You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."

He said ... "Then I thank you from my heart."

As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Many year's later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.

Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the Consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.

Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.

Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once.

He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.

After a long struggle, the battle was won.

Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, and then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention

on the side of the bill. She read these words...

"Paid in full with one glass of milk"
(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, God, that your love has spread  broad through human hearts and hands."

There's a saying, which goes something like this:
Bread cast on the waters comes back to you. The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love  at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn't that what life is all about?

Managers are Managers...

A team of Managers was given an assignment to measure the height of a flagpole. So the Managers went out to the flagpole with ladders and tape.

They're falling off the ladders, dropping the tape measures - the whole thing is just a mess.

An Young Employee comes along and sees what they're trying to do, he walks over, pulls the flagpole out of the ground, lays it flat, measures it from end to end, gives the measurement to one of the managers and walks away.

After the Young Employee has gone, one manager turns to another and laughs.

"Isn't that just like? We're looking for the height and he gives the length!"

Moral:

No matter what good you do, Managers can always find a fault in your work!!!!

Blue Silk Pajamas

A man called home to his wife and said, "Honey I have been asked to go fishing up in Canada with my boss & several of his Friends. We'll be gone for a week. This is a good opportunity for me to get that Promotion I've been wanting, so could  you please pack enough Clothes for a week and set out my rod and fishing box.

We're Leaving From the office & I will swing by the house to pick my things up" "Oh! Please pack my new blue silk pajamas."

The wife thinks this sounds a bit fishy but being the good wife she is, did exactly what her husband asked. The following Weekend he came home a little tired but otherwise looking good.

The wife welcomed him home and asked if he caught many fish?

He said, "Yes! Lots of Salmon, some Bluegill, and a few Swordfish. But why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas like I asked you to Do?"

You'll love the answer...

The Cross

The young man was at the end of his rope.

Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer.

"Lord, I can't go on," he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear."

The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish.

"The man was filled with relief.

Thank you, Lord," he sighed, and he did as he was told.

Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible.

Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall.

"I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered.

And the Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross you just brought in."

When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more fortunate than you imagined.

Lunch with God

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, "Mother, what  did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied! "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before her son responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equally!
